Advice - Painting over Red Walls !

Had a similar problem a couple of years ago. Do not do as I did and use paint from a DIY 'superstore', it took me 7 coats, yes 7 coats, to cover it. It may be a little dearer but buy white trade emulsion. (I only use dulux) The pigment, I have since found out is a lot lot stronger and it...

Diamond wheel for angle grinder ?

Hi I am looking for recommendations for a 115mm diamond wheel for my angle grinder. The tiles I am cutting are 10mm thick porcelain 820 x 410mm and will have to cut a couple along the 820 length http://www.verde1999.com/img/news/20101109_084019_Verde1999_Jorstone_Cat_Low.pdf Thanks

    Levelling slight bows in marmox

I now have 15 fixings per 1250 x 600 board and yes they are through the dots under the board to avoid cracking. i think that should be enough to hold the weight.

    Levelling slight bows in marmox

This job seems to go from bad to worse, I have just cut the marmox to set the lipped shower tray into the wall and the dots of adhesive behind seem to come away very easily !! I spent all day yesterday putting the Marmox fixings throughout the whole room (9 per board) but based on my findings...

Floor height wrong after screeding !

    1. I was going to use 10 mm Marmox so at best I would gain 4mm 2. It is a shower room being tiled and the UFH is as asecondary heat source. We have it in the kitchen and even though it may be expensive to run we really do find it very good. 3. The tiles are a 10mm thick porcelain which are...

Floor height wrong after screeding !

Hi It seems that the plasterer didn't do as good a job as I'd thought. After discussion about heights before the work starting it has ended up 15 mm too high and I need to try and claw back at least 10mm.This will take it to 2-3mm below the height of the wooden threshold. To that end a...

    40mm waste 'Different Fits' ?

It seems then, that it will have to be a compression fitting which should 'take up the slack' on the fast flow waste end of the connection. Just had a thought. What about, If I were to run a bead of dow 785 on the outside of the spigot (inside of the compression fitting), keeping well clear...

    40mm waste 'Different Fits' ?

Hi I have recently purchased a Matki illusion corner shower cubicle. It was supplied with a fast flow waste made for the tray that has a 40mm (1.5") spigot for connection. I want to connect using a solvent weld straight coupler, rather than compression, to try and minimise the chance of it...

    Levelling slight bows in marmox

Do you think the best option would be to start tiling ,possibly back buttering to take up the small bow, and see how they go on the wall ? (rather than the filling / damping option) I would consider myself to be a very competent 'DIYer'

    Levelling slight bows in marmox

Thats great Richard, Thanks for such a comprehensive reply. What are you thoughts in response to my question concerning using a primer ? Thanks

    Levelling slight bows in marmox

Thanks for the reply Richard. The only concern I have is that if I use a rapid set I wont be able to keep up with it when laying the tiles (thats why I chose what I did) If I filled the bowing and let it dry first what would I have to prime it with ? Thanks

    Levelling slight bows in marmox

Thanks for that. I had chosen the Marmox originally based on the weight of the tiles + addy and posted prior to the Marmox going up and this coming weekend I intend to mechanically fix as well (9 per board 1250 x 600). The adhesive I got the plasterer to use was ...

    Levelling slight bows in marmox

Hi I have just had a shower room boarded out with dotted & dabbed 12.5mm Marmox as the chased back walls were very uneven. The plasterer has done a pretty good job but some of the boards have a bow across the width (600mm). I will be doing the tiling and the tiles we have chosen are 820mm X...
