    1910 semi issues

Yes it reaches 21' no problem but takes a while. I think this is because it doesn't retain the heat. The previous owner who was an architect attempts at insulating the solid walls haven't been successful but you'd think he would know what he's doing. Kitchen extractor hood is always used...

    1910 semi issues

Thanks for the response, I like to find real solutions to the problems so all very helpful. I'll be doing all the work as they can't afford professionals just need a steer on how to tackle all these issues.

    1910 semi issues

No experience of converted lofts so don't know what to expect, just thought as other have said shouldn't be as cold as it is. It is well insulated as far as I can tell but as said no heating other than a electric portable rad. Of course heating is on @ 21' but like a lot huge bills are a worry.

    1910 semi issues

My daughter bought a 3 bed 1910 semi 2 years ago which I've done a fair bit of work on, drafty windows/ doors insulation etc but it is still a cold house and suffers from slight mould. I know this is due to condensation on the inside of the external walls which I'm fairly sure don't have a...

    Failed touch sensitive light switch

Son just moved into a house and wants to replace a 2 gang touch sensitive light switch in the living room which has failed. There is also a touch sensitive light switch 2 gang in the understair cupboard that's failed that is linked to the living room and can switch off/on the living room...

    Combi system valve change

Big cast iron rads removed to restore parquet flooring and on re installation son wants trv's instead of manual valves. No access to sub floor to see if there's a drain cock so I guess I will have to rig up a hose to the manual valves individually to drain down before replacement. Not worked on...

    En suite project

First time fitting porcelain but have done a bit of tiling in the past. Tiles are 600x300mm x 8mm and are suitable for floor and wall. 2 of the walls surrounding the shower will be 12.5mm standard plasterboard and one plaster wall will be primed. All shower walls will have schulter kerdi...

    Plasterboard adhesion?

What should I use to stick plasterboard to a wall that used to be on the outside skin. The old plaster from around the 1980's came off very easily so maybe an adhesion issue to external brick faces. I have some knauf plasterboard adhesive, will this be OK or is there a better product or primer I...

    Which studwall insulation?

While installing a new stud wall in my 1930's 3rd bedroom extension to make an ensuite I thought I would add some insulation but unsure which would be best. Stud wall is 89mm deep so was going to fit 75mm celotex. Would this be OK and help keep the ensuite warm or are there better alternatives...

    Noise after change of use

Yes we've informed them that we hear them all the time but it makes no difference. I find it strange that noise as a result of this relocation/ extension of a kitchen area is not considered. I know we can report the noise issue to the council but know this has to be disclosed when moving which...

    Noise after change of use

My neighbours have had a large extension to the rear of the adjoining 1930's semi and removed the wall between the kitchen and dining room. They then moved the location of the kitchen to the adjoining wall removing the existing chimney breast. We put up with 6 months of building work which I...

    Ideal Classic LX FF260 fan

@ Harry many thanks. The pipe stat hasn't been adjusted and the pump running only was noticed 2 days ago so it must have been ok before. Its set at 45' should it be set higher? Are these known to go faulty/out if calibration. I'll adjust upwards to see if it turns off the pump.

    Ideal Classic LX FF260 fan

@gas112 Many thanks , I've read the BG versions are rebadged Drayton Da5 so I guess these are the ones your referring to at Ts/screwfix.

This is the set up below, 2 x 2 way valves could one of these be the problem.

The boiler in question is at my daughters house and after I've had a proper look it's not the boiler after all but the pump is running hours after the boilers been on for hot water. Anyone have any ideas what can cause this.
