    AIB or Wood?!

Yeah this is it, i'll have to get this removed professionally, will obviously test first, but I am 99.9% sure as well that it's likely AIB - which means the little storm porch thing we have also has it (as it looks very similar!) that's only a small area so I wouldn't imagine too expensive, but...

Has the boiler fitter bypassed our water softener???

They did say they would bypass it to fill the boiler - as you say they likely then forgot to re-close it - I am pretty sure last time I closed that tap we had no water in the house but i'll double check tonight!

Has the boiler fitter bypassed our water softener???

Ahh - So I may need to close that tap instead! It's a WB 4000 30kW Combi

    AIB or Wood?!

Hey folks, I know i'll have to get it tested to really know for sure, it's a 1970 house, the garage is integral and has a room (and flat roof) above it - I've just assumed it's AIB (people have drilled into it to put pipes in the past before our ownership) but it's so hollow sounding, and really...

Has the boiler fitter bypassed our water softener???

Hey folks, we had a new combi boiler fitted about 3 weeks ago - the existing boiler was an old gravity based one in the garage, and it was replaced with a combi - all pipes were available except hot water - so they went into the cloakroom (in pic you can see the pipe that has been recently...

Replacing old batten light with LED - wiring strange?

Ooh I tell a lie! There are 3 light switches in the kitchen that control the main light, and two of them the light works fine! Must have a dodgy connection on the other light switch, will check it!

Replacing old batten light with LED - wiring strange?

@flameport Done this, it turns on then flickers and turns off again. Will check for loose wire connection

Replacing old batten light with LED - wiring strange?

The old light fittings yes, all those thin blue and brown wires were part of the old fixture

Replacing old batten light with LED - wiring strange?

Replacing old batten light with LED - wiring strange?

Hey folks, I have taken off the old kitchen light, and took a photo of the cabling (attached). As well as a picture of all the cabling hanging down. The new led batten light just has a blue and brown. I've connected the blue to the single black wire I've connected the brown to the group(4)...

Flush siphon unit / filling valve too big for existing cistern?

Yeah I was replacing a busted siphon (wouldn't flush without pushing the handle loads) so thought I'd change the fill valve at the same time as that was an old style ball float one. Thomas Dudley do a "edge" siphon which is a lot slimmer I could try that...

Flush siphon unit / filling valve too big for existing cistern?

It's height adjustable but it still touches the base of the fill valve due to it's width. Need to find a super narrow one @terryplumb which flush valve would you recommend in this case
