No float matey. got a combi. Pipe seems to be firmly fixed throughout. But thanks for your advice. :)

the main water pipes knocks all day on and off. Knocks for about 5 mins then stops. Sounds like the water in the pipe is being sucked and pushed which causes the knocking. However if I turn it off at the stopcock the knocking stops. Would be most grateful for an answer to this problem.
