    The previous Macdee float valve developed a screaming noise which lasted for about 2 minutes. I dismantled and cleaned the valve which reduced the scream to about 5 seconds initially but it crept up with each flush. I don't think it is fair to the neighbours if nothing else (I've just moved in)...

    Thanks for your help. The water pressure on all taps throughout the house seems quite low to me - I've uploaded a short video as it will describe the pressure better than I can with words. No other water was running when I turn the kitchen tap on in the video. http://youtu.be/XdEbrmqc_YM

    Andy, thanks for your reply. I considered the Fluidmaster but was concerned that it wouldn't fit between the flush mechanism and cistern sides. Is there anything I can try to improve the performance of the currently fitted valve?
