    neutral reading

The live reading is 243 volts. With the light on, I have 2 wires showing 243 volts and the other showing 46.7 volts. With the switch off, I have a 243 volt wire and the other two show 117mV. Yes it is feeding two flourescent tubes.

    neutral reading

Hi, I am going to move my current light switch in the garage to a more convenient location sometime over the weekend. I decided to do a check on the switch today and found that the neutral wire is showing 44.9 volts! Why should this be? I presume live is touching neutral somewhere in that...

    Upgrading power supply

Hi, I have a small unit. It has a 3 phase supply at 100 amps. I need 300 amps to run the machinery I am getting installed. My question is, has anyone any idea of the cost involved in getting the supplier to upgrade to this. It would definately mean thicker incoming cable. The nearest sub...

1 gang 2 way switch wiring

Thanks mate, Yes the supply is going into a plastic adaptor box, where i will join the negatives and earths from the supply to the lamp. The switch is also plastic, i will run the supply live feed to common and the live feed to lamp to L1. So I presume all ok then! TIA again. 8)

1 gang 2 way switch wiring

Hi, I want to wire a single light unit to a 1 gang 2 way switch. The switch has common, L1 and L2 at the back. Would I be correct by wiring the live feed from my incoming supply to common and the live to the light to L1 and join the negatives together? TIA.

    Garage CU

Ok, Thankyou Spark123, I will tell you my plan!! In the workshop, 20 metres away from the garage, I occasionally run a 3 phase air compressor. (i have a single to three phase inverter) also normal power tools, angle grinder, drill etc. (never all together)! In the garage, I use power...

    Garage CU

The distance betwwen main CU and garage is approx 4 metres. The cable will have a straight run of a metre and then through a hole in the wall and run vertically up the garage wall to the new CU. I thought 2.5mm^ would have been sufficient for that??

    Garage CU

Tar guys, The thought of a 5 way CU did cross my mind. I think I will take that route, as it will give me a bit more capacity for future needs. The 5 way CU obviously comes with a 100A DP isolator, I want two 32A MCB`s, so if I take a 2.5mm^ run of T&E from the main CU RCD side to the 5 way...

    Garage CU

Hi, Garage consumer units, - - most I have seen come with a 16A and 6A MCB. Are there any available with say a 16A and a 32A or even two 32A MCB`s configuration? Reason is, I want to run 3 double sockets in my garage and then take a feed 20metres down the garden to run 3 more double sockets...
