Hi Harry,
I understand what you are saying, but the apex of the roof is 6'1" and I'm 6'... Roof lights aren't an option. These lights will be sat out under the eaves and will be reflecting out into the room.

I found these, but £80 each is a bit too steep. I was thinking of 6-10...

Hi Sunray,
The house is an old Argyll single storey white cottage. It was updated in the 80's and a loft room was made (not a legal bedroom...). The main room has exposed 'beams' which are the 8X2 beams for the loft floor. The plasterboard has been recessed between the beams to leave 80mm...
Thanks Chivers,
Sadly, none of these are separate bulbs. They are going into a floor where it would be really hard to change if they fail. Hence I want GU10 fittings.

Hi,
I am looking to light a loft room and don't want ceiling lights (sloping and not enough headroom). The solution I have been told to use (partner's decision is never questioned) is floor deck lights. The void below the floor is 80mm and 22.5mm floorboards.
I don't want to use cheap outdoor...
This sounds very expensive. We are probably talking top quality loam here - do you want a bowling lawn? :D I did a similar job a couple of years ago and got my top soil from the council recycling. Much cheaper than this. I bought it by the cubic metre - makes calcs much easier.
The only...
Thanks for the info. I tried to cut down the quote to the pertinent bits only. Hence, just referring to the bit about ends only. However, the result is the same :D :D :D . So, I'll now start work and not worry about joists.
Cheers
Dave
Which says...
OK, I'm a bit confused - the short ends are T&G'd, so going back to the original question... Better if on joists, but what if the join isn't above a joist? Do I cut a new end so it is over a joist (but no T&G) OR go with the flow and just assume that the T&G will help to...
What about a Volvo estate... We've got a V40 and our 2 springers fit fine in the back with loads of space - one big dog will be fine. Not bad for carrying loads to/from tip and wood yard.
Hope that helps
Dave
I know that normally the ends of floorboards need to be supported. However, if the ends are T&G'd do they need to be supported by a joist, or can the join sit between joists?
Thanks
Dave
