Ceiling Light with metal case: No earthing point: Is it safe?

I have purchased two mains powered LED ceiling lights (Made in China). On arrival I noted they have a metal case and the interior has a metal "griddle pan" which presumably is a heat sink for the LED's. I had thought that any metal cased item should be capable of being earthed for...

Why is my heating so poor?

DP: had hot water off all day with no real difference. The hot water 2 port valve was definitely shut and I am checking the valves to make sure all is as it should be. As the flow and return temps are nearly up to 30degC then I think this must indicate low flow. Agile. The boiler size of 30kW...

Why is my heating so poor?

snb: I don't understand "max mode" or how to put it into that mode. I will try the other settings later. For the moment D.0 is now set to 15 I have noted when boiler first cuts in (at 6.30 a.m.) it is noisier with a bit of a roar. After about two minutes it is much quieter and carries on...

Why is my heating so poor?

Muggles: Pump has always been turned to max. Have been in loft and F&E tank completely cold Pump Valves fully open Picture as requested For D_Hailsham: Temp difference is very noticeable at most of the rads. I haven't checked every last one...

Why is my heating so poor?

Gents, Thank you all for taking an interest. I'll try and answer all the questions in turn: doggit: I have raised the issue with another staff member of the installers but in the short time they attend the system is working albeit only slowly heating up the house. It seems to be a problem no...

Why is my heating so poor?

Thermostatic valves were fitted with the new boiler. There were none before. Supposedly the system has been balanced twice now. In the visble piping I cannot see any NRV's

Why is my heating so poor?

Rads feel quite hot by now but they take hours to get to that state. I can hold my hand on them. I don't find any cold spots on any of them and all have been bled of air. I don't understand the d.0 setting or how reducing power output could make the house warmer.

Why is my heating so poor?

To be fair this is not a new problem but my wife and I are fed up with feeling chilly when the frosty weather arrives. Prior to 7 years ago we had a lovely warm house heated by a 22 year old boiler that never needed any repairs, never cost anything in routine maintenance, but was almost...

Boiler PIlot light goes out during night...consistently

I thought I would post an update for all who followed or posted on this thread. When boiler was hot wriggling both leads to overheat stat caused no problems at all. When totally stone cold a wriggle on one of the leads caused pilot to trip as signal to gas control valve was lost. This...

Boiler PIlot light goes out during night...consistently

Thanks, THere is nothing in vicinity that runs during night..not even a cat to cuddle up to it so it is a bit of a mystery Maybe I am being a bit premature on condeming my chap and I assume from the comments that a universal T/C is not likely to be the issue. In my paranoia I did wonder...

Boiler PIlot light goes out during night...consistently

MAny thanks for the advice. I will pas it on although I'm not sure I will use the same chap anymore as it sounds as though other checks should have been done. I have a glimmer of understanding how these things work but what never makes sense as why it only happens overnight ???? Boiler...

Boiler PIlot light goes out during night...consistently

Its a fairly old Concord CX boiler and typical experience is in the morning pilot light is out. Re-light boiler which is sometimes a little tricky to get going ....usually 2 or 3 attempts. Very occasionally it will go out after 5 minutes or so but usually is fine for whole of the day through...

Glow Worm Flexicom HX cuts out or runs on part load

Many Thanks, I will investigate flow. The 82DegC setting is to try and get the house warm!!! If the house warmed up better then I wouldn't have it set so high.

Glow Worm Flexicom HX cuts out or runs on part load

Sorry but I don't quite understand. D40 is flow temperature. My setpoint D5 is set to 82degC, the max cos were cold and very occasionally when boiler doesn't go into limp mode it will reach this but more usually when it does cut in properly it will reach 74degC and then revert to limp. D41...
