Thanks from all the help yesterday. Traced the fault back to a loose connection in the fused switch. Sorted that and all worked perfectly. And i sleeved the earth wires too. Appreciate you all.

Managed to misplace my mulitmeter so just nipping out to get a new one from screwfix!
