    sweaty van

Cheers for all replies thus far..... The van is definitely dry, door seals, roofrack mounting points, rubber grommets in floor, they're all good. I'm thinking about sticking some sort of laminate flooring underlay to the roof, I was considering using carpet but reckon this will get soggy?

    sweaty van

Evening all, first of all, my apologies for probably posting this in the wrong place, but it is a trade related (kind of) question. I'm sick and tired of my tools going rusty in the back of my van. The roof sweats/condensates so much, it almost rains on the inside at times! How do you guys get...

how much concrete can be poured in a day?

Thanks for all the replies, I'm glad I wasn't too far off with my 5 day estimate. Ideally I would like the concrete poured directly, but when I phoned and explained the site conditions, they sent a chap out who took one look and said ''no chance mate, sorry'' Good idea re. ready mix direct...

how much concrete can be poured in a day?

Hi, Need some help if poss, I've been asked to pour/lay nearly 14m3 of concrete for a stable. Due to its location readymix is out of the question. I've got a tractor with a 3/4 ton bucket available so I'm able to transport to site no problem. I've also got two lads to give me some help...

    impact screwdriver bits getting mashed!

I reckon i'll give the Milwaukee bits a try and see how I go. As mentioned before the screws are always lubricated, either in soap, vaseline or spit. Before using an impact I would have said there was no need for one too, but fixing two bits of ancient oak together on a fairly regular basis is...

    impact screwdriver bits getting mashed!

I've got plenty of countersinks, but whether I pilot or not, there seems to be no rhyme or reason as to whether the bit will or won't break :? When I do pilot I use about a 3.5, and up to a 6mm for the 8'' and tend to drill about 2/3s depth, but on really old oak I pilot full depth plus a bit...

    impact screwdriver bits getting mashed!

I've tried 2'' bits (bosch) and found the longer the bit, the worse the problem. The screws aren't being unduly countersunk, just below surface. Mostly I'm using 3'' upwards to 6'' and rarely 8'', with the guages being 10,12 and 14. 99% of the time I drill a 3.5mm pilot, but this doesn't...

    impact screwdriver bits getting mashed!

Hi, My impact driver is going through screwdriver bits at an alarming rate  , I've tried just about every brand and they all get mashed far too quickly. Quite often on the poorer quality bits, I can use two per screw :!: . The wera ones are about (usually) the longest lasting but...

what size joist under oak flooring?

Hi, i'm soon to be laying a new oak strip floor in our barn conversion. the existing joists are 200mm2 oak, with a 150x38 softwood joist bolted to each side. The oak is centered at around 700-800mm. The oak flooring is 75x25mm random length. I know that i need to put in some extra support, as...
