Info from Strom is that the hot water temp sensor throws up this fault. Should be able to check the operation of the flow sensor with a multimeter across the terminals as well.
Local gas Safe engineer. He couldn't test it today because Strom office closed at 4.30 and he didn't arrive till after that so couldn't get the resistance look up table.
Engineer had a look at the boiler today, Strom provided some tests, measurements to take from the triac board and that all passed. Today though it wouldn't do any heating at all and kept showing 72 degrees momentarily before the E7 fault flashed up. So engineer now thinks the temp sensor is...
Oh yeah it's a hard water area, the boilers only a few years old, I don't think the previous owner ran it much as he had moved into a barge and was doing it up to sell.
He's been on the phone to them, so could be temp sensors, flow sensor, heating element scale build up, main PCB fault, triac board fault, etc. They gave him the number of an engineer in our area.
Reset the thermal cutouts and it doesn't seem to be that. We can adjust the flow so that it heats the water but it keeps going upt to 72 degrees whereupon it cuts out. My nephew tonight got it to work with the kitchen tap but it's coming out scalding hot.
