    Pressure release inside boiler

Just added some rads to the system and when I went out to check the external boiler it was sitting in a puddle of water. I realized we must have over-pressurized the system. However when I look inside and the plumber has installed the pressure release pipe inside the boiler. As such when the...

    Radiator noise

Last week I had a new boiler fitted. Its external and no controller fitted yet so I have to switch on/off at wall.. whenever I adjust TRV I can hear the water flying through the rads... not the bubbling noise of air just a loud whooshing noise... this didn't happen with old boiler but this one...

    new boiler and powerflush

Thanks. He is a local guy I know quite well and I know he wont charge me much. He said that power flushing didn't remove everything and the new magnetic filter will help. We are also going to remove all the rads in the morning and manually flush them outside. Do you think that will be good enough?

    new boiler and powerflush

Finally decided to get a new boiler fitted - going for an external combi boiler. Old boiler/pipework was fitted in 2005. Plumber attended today to power flush prior to fitting the boiler tomorrow. He said the water wasn't too bad, a greyish color. He was here for around 90 mins and as far as I...

    Drip bead / scratch coat

Just found this video... the guy is doing the exact same thing as by builder i.e. no drip bead... render to the floor. Is this wrong?

Also Somone else suggested disk cutting a slot at DPC level and sealing with polysulphide mastic

    Drip bead / scratch coat

I think I am going to ask the builder to install the bell cast. can anyone confirm if this can go on top of scratch coat or will it need to be hacked away?

    Drip bead / scratch coat

According to NHBC it is preferable to stop the render at DPC level but rendering can be taken past DPC with certain precautions: (see link) 6.11.7 Detailing - NHBC Standards 2022 NHBC Standards 2022 (nhbc-standards.co.uk)

    Drip bead / scratch coat

My builder asked me if I wanted a drip bead / bell detail at dpc. He said the render is water proofed so taking it to the ground is not a problem. Also its block paving around the building and during torrential rain there is no pooling of water near the walls. I have now done some some research...

    Render advice..

I have a builder who has been working for me for a number of weeks and he has done a lot of work for me in the past. he is a jack of all trades, very handy guy and we have and receptive to my 'research'. Due to most of the the house being old and somewhat awkward he advised me to take the...
