Joining waste pipe to caste iron soil stack (brass thread)

Hi All, I need to join a 32mm waste pipe from a washbasin to a threaded connection on an old cast iron soil stack. The connection on the stack has a brass 1 1/4" male thread. The original waste pipe was stolen (I presume it was copper or lead) and all that is left is the brass threaded...

Is there an electric immersion heater fitted to the HWSC?! Seems unlikely, but maybe someone switched it on...

    hot water way too hot

Sounds like your motorized valve isn't working and stuck on 'open'. You could take off the cover from the power head, turn on the hot water at the controller and turn the cylinder stat up & down and you should be able to see the motor working. Power heads are normally available separately so...

    Y plan system problem

That's sorted it right out! Apparently, the banging and rushing water sounds have been happening for many months. Slightly annoyed I didn't spot the cause myself, but delighted it's fixed! Thanks again :D

    Y plan system problem

Well, it's a Grundfos pump and it was re-fitted the same way around as it was when it was removed (with the writing on the label the right way up). Didn't even think to check the arrows  They point upwards towards the F&E  Bloody plumber who fitted it originally obviously...

    Y plan system problem

Thanks! I'll leave it where it is.

    What is this valve?

Thanks Spraggo! The positioning of the valve didn't seem quite right for an air release valve :? Do you think there's a chance it could be restricting the flow from/to the boiler - ie would it be a good idea to discard it, or is it best to leave well alone!?

    What is this valve?

There is some kind of valve within the branch of the tee. There are holes all round the circumference of the branch between the pipework and the cap. Ever since the fitting stopped leaking/working, we've had trouble with air in the boiler.

    What is this valve?

First post time :D I wonder if anyone could help me to identify this valve: It is fitted to 28mm pipework just above an old Potterton Netaheat boiler. It used to leak (hence the limescale!) but hasn't done so for a while. I assume it's some kind of air release valve, but can't...
