Is there an accepted method to replace a fence panel that's not the standard size?

Thanks very much for all your help and the tips, very useful. At least I know how it's done. Now I have to remember if the slats go vertical or horizontal, my memory's like a sieve

Is there an accepted method to replace a fence panel that's not the standard size?

I'm helping a friend to replace a fence panel that's basically disintegrated. From post to post, it's 132cm and it only needs to be around a metre high. No one sells a panel that width. In fact, they all seem to be 6ft/1.83cm in width. Are you supposed to buy one and somehow cut it down to size...

A garage side door that doesn't swell

Thanks, unfortunately none of them will be just 183cm in height.

A garage side door that doesn't swell

I have a garage side door that now expands so much during the crappy months that I have to gain access to the garage via the main up-and-over door, then kick the side door from the inside to open it. To close it, I have kick then it in from the outside! I believe that if I trim the door, then...

Is this crack easy to fix or needs a major overhaul?

Thanks for you reply. There is something that resembles a dpc/dpm that runs along the wall but not sure if it's doing anything. Yes, that downpipe is not helping. I did have a water butt connected to it until recently after a clear out so I might try and reconnect it and then run a hose from...

Is this crack easy to fix or needs a major overhaul?

I noticed the floor near the end of a wall inside my garage is wet. I thought it was because one of the tins of liquid was leaking, but outside I can see a long crack along the garage. After a quick search online, I found a similar issue where they first use backer rod foam joint before using...

    Repairing an asbestos roof

I have a hairline crack in a corrugated asbestos roof on my garage. It leaks a little when it rains enough. What is the best way to repair this crack? I'd say the crack is about 8 inches long. Thanks very much.

    Urgent - Broken toilet

I can move the threaded nylon bolt further to the right but I think it shuts off the water too quickly where it just trickles for a looong time which I'd imagine is annoying when you're sleeping in the next room. That said I haven't waited to see if it actually and finally stops, but it doesn't...

    Urgent - Broken toilet

Yes, if I either pull it up hard enough with my hand or screwdriver.

    Urgent - Broken toilet

Apologies, I'm so dumb. It has not broken. Because it was constantly dripping I was playing about with the arm when I thought it had snapped, but I had inadvertantly moved the arm forward. I can see how it works now. So the issue is, now that I have readjusted the arm, it still drips albeit...

    Urgent - Broken toilet

Hi, The plastic rod has snapped and now I'm stuck with propping it up with a screwdriver to stop it filling up. Can someone please tell me exactly what I need to purchase to fix it? I'm near a Screwfix. Thanks very much and hope you can help.

Drilling a hole for an AC vent through pebbledash?

Thanks for the joint/cement info, that looks like the ticket! It was my own stupid fault for making such a large mess of the wall. Unfortunately I don't have a core drill bit. I think the one I need is about £60 and I only want to go in about 35mm for the AC's flange to fit in. Thanks again.

Drilling a hole for an AC vent through pebbledash?

Continuing the saga, I've dropped making a hole in the pebbledash upstairs for now. Instead I need to make the hole of the old vent downstairs bigger. As you should see in the photo, I already had a couple of rasps which I tried. They worked okay around the edges but not well grinding down...

Supporting my weight on a porch roof

I need to clean the windows, soffit and repair the guttering, all above the porch roof. I don't think I can use a ladder from the ground as the base of the ladder will be too far away. I would like to simply stand and also use my step ladder on the porch roof. I'm not sure how it is...

    Temporary method for privacy

I'm planning on revamping my windows with roller blinds. Before I do, I really need to fix, seal and clean my uPVC window frames, therefore, I can't temporary cover them apart from the actual glass. I suppose I can use A4 paper or newspaper that can let plenty of light in, but what was used in...
