But should it be in operation (rattling) the whole time or only if it comes into play work? My one is rattling the whole time the CH is turned on. This would appear to be allowing flow through the bypass all the time rather than when the zone valve or TRVs were switched off.
It is not a major...
Yes the valve is fitted the correct way - arrow in direction of flow. It is a Honeywell DU145.
No it doesn't scream. There is a rattle coming from valve continuously when th CH is on. I am presuming that shouldn't be the case. The valve is set tp Number 2. It is difficult to get at - need...
I have had an automatic bypass valve fitted to our central heating system. I notice that when the central heating is on the valve is continually rattling. My plumber said that was OK and since the boiler is in a utility room, the noise doesn't matter.
I thought that the bypass valve would in...
Firstly may I say that I have had 3 heating engineers out to give me a quote to sort out my central heating / hot water system but none have bothered to send a quotation / estimate to do the work necessary.
Hence why I am left to do these things myself.
Before the weekend just gone, the...
Oldbuffer your suggestion is possible but if that was the case, I wouldn't get any flow of water through the radiators and I do. It is just that it is lukewarm.
I would agree that the boiler is shutting off because it has got up to temperature but it doen't show that on the temperature...
To Tony,
The original installer was recommended and I didn't know he had limited knowledge until he was into the job installing the new boiler.
My concerns are that how do I know whether the next plumber I consult with doesn't also have limitations.
To Dan,
I question the boiler as...
We have a Worcester CDi Conventional Condensing Boiler
My central heating and hot water system was changed a couple of years ago when I needed a new boiler.
Previously, the system was pumped CH and gravity HW.
The plumber that installed the new conventional condensing boiler gave me a...

You are correct, the old postion of the vent and feed was on top of the coil and when the system was changed from gravity hot water to pumped hot water the vent just spewed out continuously.

I don't know if you can see these now.
As I have already brought the vent down and the feed is on its way, I am planning to tap the feed into the vent - with a U turn as you suggest.
Thanks for reminding me about the bleed valve...
Following the advice of mysteryman, I embarked on the project to move the vent and feed to the return side of the boiler before the pump.
I only had time to do the vent as I had run out of coppeer pipe - on a Sunday.
To my horror when I restarted everything the vent still flowed with...
