    Lintel support

    Just fitted lintel for new door opening. Had to cut opening 1/2” below where I wanted it so I could slide lintel in behind an obstruction. Lintel now in but needs to be lifted 1/2” to butt up against blocks. What’s the best way to do this? Mortar and slate and support lintel till dry? Best way...

    Need to put a new opening in block wall for door. Blocks are 150mm wide the lintel will only be supporting 4 courses of blocks with nothing on top of those. Space is tight above opening for door so could I use lintel on side so 65mm is the height? It will be a concrete lintel, as below...

    Thanks, didn’t want to instruct a structural engineer if they were going to charge me to say it’s not possible. Wish the previous owners had just got bi folds!
