    Replacement switch for panel

Ok thanks opps, the second one you sent looks a spot on replacement to me. The panel is at my father-in-laws, so will have a look next time I’m there.

    Replacement switch for panel

Ah thanks, does looks similar - they changed the letters to lower case. Maybe the capital letters used previously were too shouty haha. Will purchase one and see how the fitting goes.

    Replacement switch for panel

Hi, Need to replace a switch from this panel. The waste disposal switch has broken off from the front, currently held in with blu tack! I’m trying to find one online, but not had much luck finding one that looks like an exact replacement. Any ideas where I can find a compatible one or what...

    Removing arrestor

Thanks for all that, I reckon I will just try fiddling with the pressure first and see how I go! This is perhaps the safest option…:)

    Removing arrestor

Ok, I may try this. I’m assuming completely depressurising it would be the same as if an arrestor weren’t there at all? However, if I were to remove my guess would be to use a 1/2” male cap like this: https://www.screwfix.com/p/flomasta-male-flanged-plug-1-2-x/98635?ref=SFAppShare The data...

    Removing arrestor

That’s for your advice, but I have tried all that! Not helped really. Just want to try removing it.

    Removing arrestor

I have an Altecnic PV016RS shock arrestor installed just after my stop cock. Paradoxically, i think it's causing banging in my pipes - i think these are meant to be installed close to a tap or appliance? Its far away from anything! Anyway I want to simply remove it and see if it improves...

    Cellar underneath fireplace

Thanks, getting a survey maybe best then. If the pipe is unused, not touched and not moved, is it relatively safe as is?

    Cellar underneath fireplace

Sounds ominous. What’s the flue got to do with asbestos?

    Cellar underneath fireplace

Hi there, Another of my ‘what is this’ thread. I have a 40s bungalow we moved into recently. So the first weird thing is the old living room fireplace, it has a chimney breast on the wall, but no external chimney stack. I see no evidence of there ever being a stack exterior to the house or in...

    What is this pipe for?

Been perhaps helpful! There is a symbol for a 'glasshouse' in the garden in one of the OS maps from the 70s. Perhaps my irrigation system to greenhouse theory maybe slighly more plausable! haha. Definely will look for pipework down at the bottom of the garden tomorrow, may even lift some of...

    What is this pipe for?

Thanks ianmcd, that's interesting, are you 100% sure? Would love to see picture/example of how this was hooked up to supply the house. I'm not saying you are wrong at all, but I have access under the house, and the old gas pipe (now defunct) comes into the house from the street - the other side...

    What is this pipe for?

For anyone still interested, I removed the pipe today. So it doesn’t go under the house, it leads out towards the bottom of the garden! My guess was it was maybe some form of rudimentary irrigation system for plants or a green house. Will have to see if I can trace the pipe to somewhere in the...
