    Cable size, advice.

Thank you ban all sheds, really good advise. The idea of a hot tub appeals to me, but I think the largest most power hungry item will be a beer fridge and a guitar amp. I will have internet access but this will be by wireless means. Cheers.

The thing is Mr RF Lighting is that all I wanted to know in the first place was what size cable....in lay mans terms. Forget the beer fridge & the ice machine....what size cable to run a couple of sockets and a light, thats all, nothing else, no super duper power surges will occur by me...

I have taken advice, from all the posts. Most of the advice is telling me to let the sparrky work it out for me, thats what I'm doing. I was advised not to run the cable down the fence line, I,m not, I was advised to dig a trench, I will. Funny thing is is that I am running the light and a...

I cannot get a mini digger through the side of my house there is just not enough room. Thanks for all your help folks, sparky back next week, will just let him get on with it. I have however managed to run all the cables in so at least that should save a bit of time. And just for your info, I...

I am not trying to cut cost, I shall use what ever thickness that is required. The stuff my friend has is very thick but did not measure it. What if I put the armoured cable in a conduit as well, I'm just trying to save digging a trench.

Pwew, the fence is in very good condition, not a cheap B&Q job and should lasy for years. The cable will be above ground and highly visable so no chance of 'pruning it'. Thanks for your input.

Is there a cable I can tack to the fence? thought the armoured cable would be ok.

The electrician is a friend, he won't mind me supplying the cable, as for checking it if it's visable with no joins it shouldn't be a problem, should it?

Just seen a mate down the road who has got a drum pf armoured cable(real thick stuff) I can have, he said it the stuff for the job and that I can run it down the fence line no need to bury it. He has his own building company so assume he knows what he's talking about.

Ok ok, I get the drift, I'll leave it all up to him, but with regards to the cable, does it need to be underground? And by the way, I enjoy cooking with wine but I much prefer drinking it, might have a a bottle now.

Thanks for reply. The guy who will be doing the work is on holiday at the moment, I thought I might save him some time running the cable down to the music room/bar, but wanted to make sure i using the correct one. He can do the rest, although I have run the cable in the room so that I can...

Thank you, I was just hoping to do abit of ground work before he gets invovled. You have a good point about the cost of the conduit though, hadn't thought of it that way. cheers

Before I start I’d like to say that all connection work will be carried out by a qualified electrician. I have built a music/bar room at the bottom of my garden which is approximately 40 metres from the consumer unit in the house to the one in the new room. I have a fence that runs the entire...

    Alpha cb28x...Heating question.

First of all I turned off all rads, connected a hose to the drain off & whilst draining system I kept a flow of mains water going through the pipes. Just clear water came out. I then started opening the rads one by one, still only clear water coming out. I wondered if I might be able to run the...
