Floor Is Sinking Under Toilet, Help please.

What do you suggest then? I don't think the floor will be flat enough for vinyl?

Floor Is Sinking Under Toilet, Help please.

Thanks. And I work from home, actually my office is right next to the offending bathroom, albeit it, it is now full of toilet/sink/cabinets and other rubbish now, so not losing any work really. I am due to have my roof fixed in the next week or so (leaking valley), so I am wondering if the...

Wow, you are very observant!! 1) Stairwell bulkhead in the pic? It is this section here: So the toilet and start of the bath are directly above the bottom of the stairs. 2) OK, The short subfloor boards did have a bit of wood behind them (useless) but there is a solid steel weight bearing...

Yes looks like it. I said that at the top of the latest post with pictures. Although researching it, it does not seem like the end of the world, if treated, and 75% of the joists do seem sound and solid enough to be sistered to.

Floor Is Sinking Under Toilet, Help please.

Hi everyone, OK, I have pulled the laminate up, the underlay and the floor boards. There was a bit of white mold on the plasterboard ceiling, which just brushed off easily enough, and on initial inspection the joists did not look too bad, and fixable, although there does appear to have been...

    Advise From Experienced Roofers Please.

I am right under a nightmare of a tree, so I am learning towards a standard lead valley now. That's assuming I can actually get a roofer to do it!! Thanks,

Seems a bit over-kill for a valley, but thank you.

Problem is though, I would have zero comeback if he came through the roof, or if the work he did caused even more damage, and he just vanished. Tricky one really, as it seems roofers actually don't want to do any roofing, unless they can overcharge you to make it worth their while.

Thanks, but the company he works for do mostly commercial work than domestic. I checked them out.

Hi, For about 4 weeks now I have been trying to get a roofer to fix a leaking valley on my roof. One guy bodged it by just cementing the tiles against the lead, which didn't work, so I got refunded - and this guy had 60+ feedbacks at 100% positive on Mybuilder - go figure... Others have...

Floor Is Sinking Under Toilet, Help please.

Thanks Ian, that's what I am hoping as well. Under the bath where there is no laminiate, I can see that thick green underlay has been using, so it could be that under the rest that has just become sodden. I'll know later today when I have taken it up hopefully.

Floor Is Sinking Under Toilet, Help please.

I have taken the cistern and bowl out, etc. and removed the whole bath panel, and because as I suspected the previous bathroom fitter has laminated right under the bath, so I will have to rip all the laminate up tomorrow: Although why they would tile over the laminate is beyond me, so that...

Well, it's lasted 15 years until now, but let's hope not, eh! We'll soon find out.

Thank you, I will do just that!

Thanks for the reply. I'll get a level sorted tomorrow when I start the work. The cistern was indeed screwed to the wall, but the movement, over time has pulled the screws out, and now it is loose. The base of the bowl is now loose, and it was (still is) bolted down but the bolts are loose...
