Removing silicone sealed skirting Boards in New Houses

Personally I can't stand beading, It stands out too much, and probably works out dearer than new skirting. Another way is to leave the skirting on, fit the laminate leaving a 10mm gap all round, then have your local timber yard rebate the back off some new (bigger) skirting, then you just fit...

    Replacing DG door

Informing someone could cost you (building regs certificate) People only usually encounter problems when selling their home, because they have ticked the 'yes' box on the property info form where it says 'have new windows/doors been fitted'? Don't tick the yes box??

    upvc windows frame cleaner

I just use the stuff from my local plastics / window supplier, you can get an abrasive type if your windows are particularly bad, just look in your yellow pages for your nearest plastics / window supplier.

Removing silicone sealed skirting Boards in New Houses

Can't you just take them off and use bigger skirting to hide any damage? A sharp chisel should remove the silicone from the walls. (not on its own you understand? you have to be using the chisel

    Focus engine heat

Ok, I think I will replace the temperature sender anyway, shouldn't cost much, and I can get to it easily. I can't see 'both' fan motors being broke. One more question.......does the temp sender control the temp gauge AND the fans? if so that may explain why the temp gauge seems to jump to half...

    Focus engine heat

Thanks everyone, I am now thinking that i am just being overcautious, as everything else is ok, no signs of water in oil and vice versa, no loss of coolant, temp gauge reading half way, heater is fine, dont know how to check fans 'cause they're not kicking in, probably due to the temp gauge not...

    Focus engine heat

The temperature gauge on my 2.0 Zetec Focus rises quite quickley to about half way, it doesn't go any higher but the engine seems to be overheating. When looking under the bonnet after even just a short journey the heat is unbelievable. I have owned probably around 50 cars and never come across...

    Solid oak flooring

Before I go and spend a lot of cash on pre-finished solid oak flooring from Howdens, has anyone fitted it before? I'm going to do the whole of my downstairs with it. Howdens supply tubs of adhesive which they say has got to be used to glue the planks to the existing floor, but I planned to lay...

Help would be appreciated, I own a long weelbase Rav 4 '99 Vreg, 72k miles, every gear is fine except 5th, when in 5th gear the gear stick is loose and this movement is making it slip out of 5th gear, I had it on ramps today to check if any mountings were loose but everything looked fine, the...

    FENSA ?

Whoever fitted them should really have filled you in on how to get your certificate, I am not fensa registered, I go through the councils building control, prices have varied from £75 to £125. Just give them a call they are usually very helpfull, and if any problems arise from the inspection it...

Redidrive - how do they work?

The screw should be the same size (or very slightly longer) than the redidriver. You won't be able put the screw in by hand if thats what your thinking. Screw it in till it locks tight.

    Nail gun

Anyone know of a nail gun that fires ring nails for feather edge boards, I want to save myself some time on fencing jobs but can't find a suitable gun. Preferably for use with an air compressor (if there is one) as I've got the compressor already so I might as well make use of it, Thanks.
