Anyone know of a nail gun that fires ring nails for feather edge boards, I want to save myself some time on fencing jobs but can't find a suitable gun. Preferably for use with an air compressor (if there is one) as I've got the compressor already so I might as well make use of it, Thanks.

DeWalt D51845 Full Round Head Framing Nailer or D51321 Coil Roofing Nailer are examples (I have the D51845). If the description says "full-round head" then the nailer does ring annulars. You can also get clipped head nailers like the D51823 Clipped Head Framing Nailer . Not too sure about clipped heads (the nail heads are D-shaped) for projects like fencing, I don't think they have the holding power of a full round head, but plenty of people use them. They will hold more nails in the magazine though and you can get ring annulars for clipped head nailers, too. I've only taken deWalt as an example. Other makes include Senco, Bostitch, Hitachi, Makita and Max (by Spotnails in the UK).

Batteries? On an air nailer? ........ No. Price of the D51845 Full Round Head Framing Nailer - I paid around £270 + VAT. Don't know if they use Passy nails, but getting nails isn't really a problem IMHO.

Thanks SCRIT, I did take a look at the de-walt options but ended up buying a Makita coil nailer, and its the best tool I've ever bought, just wish I'd have got one years ago

Yes  Iwas thinking of something like a dewalt 18v finish nailer , just wasn't sure weither they were supplied with batteries or if they could be bought without :)

Well it's a completely different animal - 18 gauge brad pinner - the original discussion was about nailers for fences, which really means full-head or clipped-head ring annular nails. 18 gauge pinners are interior carpentry kit and could never be used to put a fence together and have it last longer than the first heavy breeze - really only useful to hold things together whilst the glue sets.

Don't know if the DW comes bare of batteries. I have borrowed one and for a brad nailer they seem a bit big and clumsy, much heavier than an air tool, but also much quieter and lighter than dragging a compressor and hoses round, I suppose. They're also quite slow to use against an air tool so I wouldn't have one in the workshop.

Maybe 172.54.24.254 and 172.24.54.254, cue twilight zone music ......

just as a little aside to this post, i wanted to get an air nailer for doing the same thing on fencing jobs as well, and i was all set to go down the road of one of the expensive jobbies suggested. I went into a tool company near me that specialises in air tools and told them what i wanted one for. They then suggested an air stapler. I had some feather edge in the back of the van and they set one up and let me try it out as well as an air nailer. Ive got to say no contest. Its lighter, faster, cheaper, and does a very neat and secure job, as well as not splitting any boards. I was sceptical but they were harder to remove than the nails as the staples actually cross over as they impact on the wood.

Guess which one i bought!

The problem is that staples have a lot less metal in them and will rust out a lot faster. Round here it can be a bit windy in winter, too, so I wouldn't dare use staples.
