How long can alarms last with disconnected Mains power?

I think the internal one is now dead as the keypad lights are no longer lit. I suspect neither battery had been maintained in the last 16 years so hopefully they will quickly drain. The alarm is an accenta 8 mini and external box is white with a blue strip light at bottom but can't see any name.

How long can alarms last with disconnected Mains power?

We recently moved into a house with an alarm installed , but told by previous owner it hasn't worked for years. We had an electrical safety test and initially failed and the alarm appeared to be the cause. I agreed to have the alarm removed from the mains and have my certificate now. No loss as...

changing a Straight Room Stat for a combined Stat/Timer

Thank you for your reply. The existing N is for an accelerator on the old stat, and is not required for the new electronic stat/timer. The terminal I referred to as Earth is not actually an earth and is called an Earth parking in the new stat manual and is stated has having no electrical...

changing a Straight Room Stat for a combined Stat/Timer

I am currently trying to change Danfoss RMT230 for a Salus Rt500. Should be straight forward but there is an extra wire on my existing stat, possibly for an RP? In the danfoss instructions this should be from neutral. The new stat has live and switched live which replace terminals 1 & 2 and a...

Outside Light - Use Redundant Light switch for outside light

I think I understand now - I was assuming that the two wires to the switch could be treated as and Live and Neutral and insert a new jb to connect light. But the light wont actually be connected to the real neutral if I do that?

Outside Light - Use Redundant Light switch for outside light

Even if the wiring to switch is still live - I will still need to get a juntion box inserted to connect the the new light fitting to. I was hoping to be able to do it without using any internal cable conduit or making new holes in the plaster, taking up floorboards etc, but its not going to be...

Outside Light - Use Redundant Light switch for outside light

Our house is a David Wilson house built 9 years ago. It originally had a car port with a couple of lights on the ceiling of the car port operated by a light switch by the back door. The first owners built a garage with bedroom over and now the garage lights are operated by switches in the...

Ideal ICOS HE12 - Firing when no heat called for?

I've tried to arrange someone to look at it this morning but struggling. A few peolpe are busy and were 2-4 weeks before being able to come and look. Might try British Gas as they offer quick appts but only offer 3 prices - £79 (which I have to pay even if they I don't go ahead with work)...

Ideal ICOS HE12 - Firing when no heat called for?

It all makes sense now. I just realised that the pump was still running- I think this confirms a valve (most likely HW) is open or actuator faulty. I may get someone in to do it for me, but fairly confident now that if they say I need a new boiler or a replacement flux capacitor they are...

Ideal ICOS HE12 - Firing when no heat called for?

I have 2 valves in airing cupboard the HW is a Honeywell and the CH a danfoss. Had a look at wiring diagram online now and think I have a better understanding alongside reading the reply. The controller is not the device that calls for heat, the valve does? The controller and the stat...

Ideal ICOS HE12 - Firing when no heat called for?

Hi I have moved into a house in Apr 14 with an Ideal ICOS HE12 supplying heat for Central Heating and a Santon unvented water tank. There is a Drayton lifestyle programmable timer and a room stat in the hall. Its worked fine over the summer with a timed 20 mins in the morning and 15 mins...

changing a Straight Room Stat for a combined Stat/Timer

In our last 2 houses we have been able to influence the heating system and have had wireless room stats to control both the temp and times the heater comes on. However we are about to move and there is an exisiting system installed that we will not be replacing. There is a Danfoss (not sure...

    Underfloor Heating Advice

Hi I am due to move house in April and we are planning to tile the Kitchen/Dining room. It is open plan but with a dividing wall about 2/3 of the length of the room so the areas are a bit separate. The current flooring is lino in the kitchen and carpet in the dining area. We want to...
