if there are any experts out there I would love to know if this is a cesspit or a well - My guess in cesspit because of the manhole cover in close proximity but next door have a well in their garden (although that is an 18th century house) - and I don't know what either look like.
Really? I was thinking more cess pit or well. If its a cess pit I will fill it in (which someone seems to have already started). If its a well I will put a top on it to make it a feature.
I have a timber garage with roof constructed of what looks like 1930s clay tiles. The timber is in pretty bad shape so I plan to rebuild the garage, but will not be re-using the tiles from the roof.
So everyone I speak to thinks they are an expert and tell me that those tiles are valuable...
I am looking to get the opinion from people in the know regarding a number of small cracks in the bricks of my 1930s house (see picture).
The cracks don't extend into the mortar and from what I can see from my internet searches I'm thinking its fire cracking, however it would be good to get...
