    I some pictures. The wooden square you can see is where the bracket sits that the fan is fitted into the bathroom wall. The black hose comes off the fan, and goes upwards into that hole in the ceiling. I imagine it must go into a central kind of duct because I can smell smoke from other flats...

    The bathroom does get mould that needs cleaning every few months but I wouldn't say it is anything drastic luckily

    I thought a fan is required in a bathroom with no windows, but I really don't know about this stuff. Even if I kept the old fan would it be possible to get an electrician to add a timer to it?
