you could try sandtex, they do an exterior quality gloss. But, If I were you I would trust the guy at brewers/bacons. If it is the one in Nuneaton, I used to work there for 9 years, and Aidan, the guy there, knows what he's talking about. :D

No worries :) . You can just use 2 coats BIN if you wish, as it is a primer sealer. If preferred you could also put on u/coat, but really not needed. You can get it in Nuneaton, if you are having trouble finding BIN. They sell it at what was Bacon bros paints, but now Brewers. Is on corporation...

I would go with maybe a non vinyl emulsion. Or chalk or clay based paints

dulux eggshell is fine. Is the most matt finish availiable, apart from Farrow & Ball who do a dead flat finish. If you want a more matt apperance, you could use a water based/acrylic eggshell.

You may have probs repainting straight over the wood stain as it may bleed through. If it does you can use one of 2 products. Either an aluminium wood primer, then u/coat and gloss. Or you can use zinsser B.I.N primer sealer to block and then 2 coats gloss.

It might be cheaper to consider having it re-rendered!. Or you could maybe try an acid etch solution.

In my experience, the stab solution that was used previously should not have any adverse affect towards the top coat of masonry.That is unless.... the extension was newly rendered when last painted?. In which case, it would have put a barrier between the drying wall, and the masonry paint...

Hi, Can I ask why, you wish to remove the old masonry, and not just paint over it?. You are making much work for yourself! As the only way I know of removing masonry is to have it sandblasted off.

Hi, You can get a product from liberon called wax and oil remover. It is about £10 for 500ml. Use this first to remove old wax., and then rub down with wire wool. If the surface is a little dirty, you can clean with some meths and the wire wool. hope this helps. :)

unfortunately, oil based eggshell no longer available! is now Estate eggshell. Is a resin based product but water soluble. "Apparantly"with the qualities of the old oil based. Sell it everyday! Have used and am no great fan!!

Fraid I have to agree, looks to me like a neat coat of vinyl emulsion was used. Another No no for newly plastered walls. must be mist coated or contract (non vinyl) emulsion used.

If ceiling now all sound, you can just use a thinned down coat of the emulsion you are using, or if preferred some kind of contract emulsion. If ceiling dusty or porous, you can try an alkali resisting primer first.
