    Noisy plumbing

Thanks for your reply Andy, I spend £500 on a pump and the fault could be a washer? Could you talk me through the physics of that please? I get that the fill valve itself may become faulty and cause a noise when in operation but the washer sealing the fill valve to the incoming pipework?

    Noisy plumbing

Hi all, I have a flat with a shower pump connected next to the hot water cylinder which serves to increase both hot and cold water pressure. Intermittantly, I'd been experiencing some noise with a quick frequency- it sounded as if it came from the cupboard with the pump in - a kind of judder -...

    Gas heater removal

Thanks for that Denso. A handy resource. I guess I'll end up bunging the job on 'My Builder' and take the lowest quote from a qualified person. One last thing though. The flat has suffered from condensation in the past. Might it not be a good idea to install a ventilation plate over the flue...

    Gas heater removal

£160. Not sure if this was to patch the holes as well. I assume so because the sparks said he would "roughly" patch up his chases ready for a top coat of finishing plaster (also known as that ready mixed stuff you can get from Screwfix:LOL:). I guess that, if that's the going rate, I may well...

    Kitchen heater

I guess to make sure it IS a ring, I would need to disconnect the cables from (what I assume to be) the previous and next sockets in the ring and check for continuity? is this correct? Also, there is no heater in the bathroom and I am thinking of installing a heated towel rail. Could I do a...

Extending the ring sounds better. I presume you mean taking one of the T&Es from the original socket as a feed for the new one and putting new cable in from the new to old sockets thereby keeping the ring intact. Is this so?

    Kitchen heater

OK. So presumably I would need to disconnect some wires from sockets and do some continuity testing. What would be the best way to go about this? There are only 4 mcbs and only one marked 'sockets'. The flat had an electrical inspection test (when the new consumer unit was put in 2 years ago)...

    Kitchen heater

Kitchen is 3.7 x 1.9, so I thought a 600W or 900W oil-filled rad I've had the socket off the wall and there are two T&E cables feeding it. It looks like the original wiring.

    Kitchen heater

Hi all, I wanna fix an electric radiator to a wall in my kitchen but there is no socket on that wall. However, there IS a socket, in almost exactly the right place, on the other side of the wall. Could I spur off this socket, through the wall, thereby putting the required outlet in the kitchen...
