Extend a Ring Main using SpliceLine

But the SpliceLine is classified as Maintenance Free under BS 7671, which states: Every connection shall be accessible for inspection, testing and maintenance except for the following: (i) A joint designed to be buried in the ground (ii) A compound filled or encapsulated joint (iii) A...

Extend a Ring Main using SpliceLine

The classification of the SpliceLine connector is BS 7671:2008. See the following link: http://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/crimp-butt-splice-terminals/7643370/ The joint will actually be in the ceiling between the joists but yes the new cables will be in a permitted safe zone. Oh and yes I meant...

Extend a Ring Main using SpliceLine

Thanks for the reply. 1) This will not be a spur but an extension of cable on the main ring. I currently have two sockets and will be moving to one 2) I believe SpliceLine connectors are the new method of connecting cables rather crimping so assume they are MF standard 3) Not really 4) Yes, it...

Extend a Ring Main using SpliceLine

Hi, I am having my internal kitchen/dining room wall removed and on either side there are plug sockets. I am going to remove the sockets and add one to part of the wall that will remain. The only problem is the cables are not long enough. Am I OK to extend the cables using SpliceLine...

20 Amp DP Switch on 32 Amp Ring Main

There is no direct connection between the two earth terminals. It looks like it is connected via a small metal case to the front of the plate. I am assuming when the screws are in this will complete the earth circuit.

20 Amp DP Switch on 32 Amp Ring Main

Hi, thanks for your reply. I have purchased a Nexus Metal 20 Amp DP switch. The terminals look like they will fit 2 x 2.5mm tails but they are a lot smaller than terminals found on gang sockets. I don't know if the size of the terminals are rated to certain amps. See photo

20 Amp DP Switch on 32 Amp Ring Main

Perfect. Thanks for your reply. The reason for asking is because my electrician asked me to purchase 20 Amp switches (to match other sockets) and I was a little unsure because when I opened one, the tail fixings and holding screws where small. Not the usual size like the ones found in double...

20 Amp DP Switch on 32 Amp Ring Main

Hi, I am getting a lot of conflicting information regarding my query. Can you have a 32 amp ring main (two 2.5mm cables) into a 20 amp DP switch then to a single 2.5mm cable to a single socket? So 20 amp DP switch - 2 cables IN (on the ring) and 1 cable OUT (to a single socket) Thanks

Nightmare Boiler Installation - Mains Pressure Coil

Apparently there is a problem because the new boiler has pump override where the boiler will switch off and the pump(s) should keep running. They are saying that the new boiler cannot function with the current system that I have. Surely modem day boilers should be compatible with older existing...

Nightmare Boiler Installation - Mains Pressure Coil

Hi I am having a nightmare with my boiler installation company. I was quoted for a straight conventional boiler swap as my current tank system is really good. They have installed a Vaillant ecoTEC Plus 418 boiler and they cannot wire the programmer or thermostat to work. After several visits...

s plan heating system with two pumps

Hi 1CANHELP I am having a nightmare with my boiler installer with the system you described above. They have installed a Vaillant ecoTEC Plus 418 and say they will need to install a new tank system to make it work correctly (costing me more money). I currently have an open vented thermal store...
