Tried to check my 'stats this morning to find that all of them had lost their connection to my hub - anyone else seeing the same?
I've tried to reconnect one but no joy so far - I haven't taken my network back to 2.4Ghz and I'm going away for a couple of days so I'm now going to have to leave...
I'm not sure I agree with that. Let me throw a genuine use case at you.
Elbow under floorboards through a drilled hole to enable a copper pipe to be a radiator tail
If the fitting is uncapped then lifting the radiator can compress the collar and release the fitting, the cap would largely...
I'm very impressed by these:

I have battens, but I have a void as well. If I fix my bracket with coach bolts for instance then I will be tightening the bracket and crushing the void. I'm looking for a spacer to directly compress the bracket onto. In theory I could do it with a dozen or so large washers, I'm thinking that a...
Update:
Those Geefix fixings....I drilled my first hole and hit a batten, tried a second hole, metal stanchion. third hole - bingo! another batten
There is a small void between the plasterboard and the batten, so direct fix is out as the plasterboard will flex and I now have a 1" hole so a...
The bracket they supply folds up to fit within the back of the TV itself - It's really neat, though there isn't enough swivel for my uses. I've actually bought the same TV

I received my Geefix fixings and a brand new 25mm hole drill in the post yesterday. I am very impressed on how they feel out-of-the-box. The plastic from which they are made is very rigid and they look substantially made

I've just had a root around in my old fittings box...not quite as yellow as yours, but I think that it's a similar vintage. I think that these needed the caps to prevent the pipes just being pulled out, they now screw down to lock into place

IIRC the caps pop off really easily with virtually no force at all. It is a very long time since I used one that I don't recall exactly the mechanism but I think it's just a push and the fitting pulls off like a regular speedfit fitting

I've had those in the past, it wasn't originally yellow. IIRC they used to come with white, blue and red end caps. This was when the collar was just an exposed ring
You can ping those caps off with very gentle pressure from a small flat-head screwdriver

What about replacing the door linings?
The hinge-side is a lost cause - leave that
Replace the top and catch side with oversized framing that protrudes 1/4 to 1/2" into the batroom and then just silicone the return. No need for any architrave

Just an aside but there is an argument that "Canadian" slate IS Welsh Slate as they are (apparently 98% identical #) and were laid down at the same time whilst the land masses of the earth were Pangaea and Canada and Wales were joined together
