    Godamned Hammerite!

Yes, that is true. The instructions say otherwise, even if the front says paint over rust.

    Godamned Hammerite!

That's a fair point, that's why it's worth stripping back to bare metal and treating before applying paint if there is a chance any areas covered might have areas of rust you can't get to. I've ordered 5l of Xylene as I believe that's essentially what Hammerite brush cleaner is.

    Godamned Hammerite!

Double the price now. I know this is an old thread but it's useful for anyone wondering. Would this be a good substitute for the product recommended...

Pipe located whilst looking for original electrical cable supplying garage from house

Also tried a cheap stethoscope and same result. I don't know how effective it would be as the rest of the pipe is buried...

Pipe located whilst looking for original electrical cable supplying garage from house

Could this be the answer? This is the cable going into the house by the electric meter presumably supplying the garage (if not, is it an earthing rod)? The pipe dimensions are the same.

Pipe located whilst looking for original electrical cable supplying garage from house

I redid the copper piping in the house a few years ago with solder and have used compression fittings on copper pipe. It's the pipe I am not sure about. Could you please share a link to the type of screw on cap you are thinking of?

Pipe located whilst looking for original electrical cable supplying garage from house

Thanks for confirming, so what fittings can I use to cap it off if I don't have access to the screwed coupler? I want to be prepared too in case I need to join it back up.

Thanks for clarifying, is that indicative of what it is used for?
