    Damp Walls

Hi, We have recently purchased a end terraced house which was riddled with damp. I am convinced that the majority of the damp was caused by issues such as faulty guttering, porus brickwork, faulty flashing, and a wall which is below the outside ground level. I have rectified as many of these...

    Fuse Board and Appliances Buzzing

Further to this someone has suggested it could be 'mains noise'. How likley is this? It only occurs between the hours of 6:30 in the morning and 10:30 at night.........perhaps a neigbour turning something dodgy on for the day. Ive checked all sockets and all junction boxes to no avail, tests...

    Fuse Board and Appliances Buzzing

The strange thing is that the buzzing isnt actually coming from the sockets its the appliances. I tried plugging in a lamp and it was fine other appliances in the same socket cause no buzzing, its just these ones so im assuming there is some kind of common ground in terms of Power Supply between...

    Fuse Board and Appliances Buzzing

I have tried pushing the case on the Main Switch and it doesnt appear to stop it. The only thing that makes it stop is turning off both ring mains. Or when it stops of its own accord. It seems to bear no relation to anything I do load wise. A bulb went upstairs last night and the unit tripped as...

    Fuse Board and Appliances Buzzing

Thanks very much for the info, I will wait until it starts buzzing again and give those ideas a try. The Test Button does still work and the unit trips off and the buzzing stops. I did generally test it every couple of months and it also trips when bulbs blow.

    Fuse Board and Appliances Buzzing

Will try and upload the photos later, when the damn weather is light enough to get a decent pic! Sounds like it is coming from the main switch where the wires from the meter connect in. Would this buzz feed down to other applicances like the kettle, TV, Microwave, PC that are plugged in as...

    Fuse Board and Appliances Buzzing

It doesnt buzz when the main switch is off. It also doesnt buzz when the heating, downstairs lighting, upstairs lighting and cooker circuit are on. Only when either ring main is on, even with nothing plugged into the ring main at all. It hasnt done this before sunday, nothing has been...

    Fuse Board and Appliances Buzzing

He checked for anything loose. Says it was all ok. He didnt check all sockets though but ran some tests on a gadget which they all passed. Is it worth me check each socket for any loose connections. Do you want to see the wires inside the consumer unit, it has a little brown cover on the...

    Fuse Board and Appliances Buzzing

Hi, I have recently encountered a problem a certain times of the day where appliances such as TV, Kettle and PCs have been buzzing, I have also noticed that the Consumer Unit is buzzing at the same time. This mainly happens in the morning when very little has been on. I have unplugged all...
