New Coving coming loose from wall/ceiling

Thank you to all who have offered advice. In answer to some questions: -Painting was done weeks after the skimming of ceilings and fitting of coving -Artex was skimmed,no overboarding -The ripple noted to the right of the green tape was a variant in the woodwork above, so had always been there.

New Coving coming loose from wall/ceiling

Thanks for this. We didn't paint until after everything was fitted and even then we let it settle and dry properly before painting with 50/50 (as was plasterer's advise). It's doubly upsetting as we haven't long finished decorating the last room and the prospect of having all that mess again...

New Coving coming loose from wall/ceiling

18 months ago we had all our Artex ceilings skimmed and profiled plaster coving installed in our 1930s house. We finished it with a mist coat (50/50 emulsion/water) before painting with white emulsion. Last week one of the coving strips came away from the wall/ceiling, and we've had to prop...

    Suitable material for sliding doors

Agree - we would love to get ready made doors and save the hassle. But if we don't have a narrower door on the far left we will not be able to expose each entire 1m unit. From left to right it goes 0.6m - 1m-1m-1m. Each 1m unit has a multitude of office uses, including on with drawers which...

    Suitable material for sliding doors

We are in the process of doing exactly this. We have a fitted PAX carcass system left by previous owners. 3 1-metre units and 1 60cm unit. These were retrofitted behind a set of very old and knackered mirror doors. The ceiling is 240cm high with the PAX system being almost that. Wall to wall is...

What is this? Bubbling internal wall.

We bought a 1930s house six months ago and at the time these bubbles in the picture were smaller and unbroken. This internal wall is in the stairwell and there is a tiled shower on the opposite side. I poked through the biggest one a few months ago and there was no moisture felt however the...

Kitchen Extractor Hood - Please help!

Interested in other views on this if the chimney was not in use in any of the floors above. I am in the early stages of planning a kitchen diner, and am considering putting the kitchen in the old diner, and the cooker "inside" the fireplace, hence wondering if the extraction can be led up the...

    Kitchen Renovation

Looks good, and not dissimilar to what we are thinking of doing at the place we have bought. What did the build cost you exclusive of the kitchen?

Small extension - planning permission needed?

Nope, it's a bog standard area, no danger of that.

Small extension - planning permission needed?

Thanks! Will obviously check it out properly once in, but sounds positive then. Would save on planning application costs and the time it would take to apply. The property has never been extended, apart from a loft conversion within permitted development guidelines (dormer loft window). Hoping...

Small extension - planning permission needed?

Hubby and I have a bit of a budget to stick to for the kitchen/diner conversion we are planning to do in the 1930s mid terrace we have just bough. To make a bit of extra space for the kitchen, we are hoping to extend the old outside loo (now a tiny utility area housing a washing machine and...

    Challenging small kitchen/diner conversion

The other half and I have bought a 1930s mid-terraced house which has one major issue that we intend to sort out when we move in. It has the original tiny galley kitchen, and is not really in proportion to the 5 bed (loft converted) 2 bathroom property. The kitchen and dining room are next...
