Yeah, he released a small grub screw before trying to remove. He had a pair grips on it and was giving it good go but didn’t want to completely knacker it up which fair enough.
Recently cleaned off timescale to free off shower mixer valve and now it’s leaking from the square valve handle.
The plumbers contacted are saying it’s a full unit swap out as they won’t be able to source spare cartridge part (10 years old). This will be a pain as tiles may be disturbed.

Thanks for replies, I’ll replace the isolation valve and see if that works.
Unscrewing the valve, I can’t see how this could easily be done… does the top stem come out the body completely? Not sure how it’d reseal if I got it out.
Bottom feed water connection to cistern sprung a leak from the joint between thread and isolation valve.
I thought it was due to a failed thread on the plastic 1/2” shank, so I replaced with a brass one…. but still can’t get to seal up.
Please see the pics.

Yeah, the PTFE tape is my bad I’m afraid. That was the first one to leak, could get olive off so gave the tape a go and it sealed up OK.
Thanks for advice regarding LS-X, I’ll pick some up.
I’m pretty sure it’s not running down the pipe, on drying the weeping joint it looks to be coming from within.
Just don’t want to tear into it and find I make it worse but also not keen on leaving long term in case it gives up big time when I’m at work.

Had bathroom refitted about a year ago (not by me, got local plumber in to do job).
Have noticed a few very slight leaks...
