    Mains Smoke Alarm Compatibility

Hi, I need to change a mains smoke alarm. Are all mains smoke alarms compatible with each other, i.e. can I buy any brand of mains smoke alarm, wire it into place, and it will play with the other brands of smoke alarm on the circuit? Also, are back plates compatible, or will I also have...

    Wobbly Franke Olympus Tap

Hi, No, I can't see any water leaking from the base of the spout. So I think the o-rings are sealing things as expected. Thanks. Andrew.

    Wobbly Franke Olympus Tap

Hi, We've just had a kitchen fitted, with a Franke Olympus tap (http://www.frankeonline.co.uk/olympus-338-p.asp) into a granite worktop. The base of the tap is really solid in the worktop. However, the swiveling spout of the tap is far more wobbly than I expected. There's several mm of...

    Help on Howdens kitchen quote

Yes, that's what I suspected. How does it work? How much do you think I should be able to negotiate down, in terms of a percentage? Thanks.

    Help on Howdens kitchen quote

Thanks - it's difficult though getting quotes that are exact enough to compare, since you can't get the exact same stuff elsewhere. There always seems enough difference for them to justify their quote.

    Help on Howdens kitchen quote

Hi, Please could anyone advise if this is a reasonable quote from Howden's (details below). Its for a Tewkesbury white solid oak doors. The quote is for the kitchen only - no appliances and no sink. I've been told I'm getting it at cost price, with the full builders discount applied...

Downstairs RADs go hot then cold

Thanks for the reply. However, I don't know what you mean. I've not got a clue about CH, so I wouldn't know if I've a 3 port valve or 2x2 port values. What do I need to look at? We do have a remote digital thermostat. However, the temperature on this shows lower than what we've got the...

Downstairs RADs go hot then cold

Hi, Yes, the pump is downstairs with the boiler. We've no problem with hot water. If the pump isn't working, then how is hot water getting upstairs into the tank and upstairs RADs? Or do you mean that the pressure of the water in the central heating system is pushing all the hot...

Downstairs RADs go hot then cold

It's not a combi. We've a hot water tank upstairs. What difference will the pump speed make? I've 7 radiators downstairs. They all do get hot for a few hours, then all go off at the same time. Upstairs isn't impacted. I'm assuming the pump is OK, since the radiators which didn't get...

Downstairs RADs go hot then cold

Hi, We've recently moved into a house with an old glowworm boiler. We had problems with the central heating at the start - some of the upstairs radiators weren't getting hot. An engineer fitted a new pump and that problem has been solved. The upstairs radiators now all get hot. However...
