    Electrical safety check please

Gosh I thought that my previous experience on this forum was just a one off. What makes you think I'm not qualified to work on electricity? Go and patronise someone else please. Goodbye. (Thanks again John for your assistance!)

    Electrical safety check please

I will definitely hold off any major changes to the system, thanks.

    Electrical safety check please

Thanks. All the joints are indeed accessible. I ran most of the wiring in the loft I created in the garage (for insulation purposes) and everything is very accessible and can be easily inspected. I totally understand the risk of joining two cables behind a wall! Cool, it seems it's not so bad...

    Electrical safety check please

John is correct, the garage DB is wired in parallel at the back of the socket. Indeed the switch in the house is an FCU. So that has to be changed/removed, thanks. The armoured cable is 2.5mm. In terms of needs, it's my DIY room, I can live with some limitations when the heating is on. Again...

    Electrical safety check please

Circuit is RCD protected. It runs in the house to a fused switch on the wall and then goes outside, underground via an armoured cable, on to the garage wall into an outdoor socket. I wired the new DB from the socket (in parallel to the exiting cable). I used T&E, the house is 5y old, everything...

    Electrical safety check please

Greetings, A couple of years ago I bought a house with a double garage. The garage gets power from the garden socket (I was then told the garage used to be a car port, that's why it takes power from the socket). The garden socket comes from a dedicated breaker rated 16A and - from what I can see...

I am happy to take that kind of advice. But you can post your patronising and sarcastic contibutions somewhere else.

    Split heat pump air conditioner

If I were a pro I wouldn't be on a DIY forum, what do you think? What kind of reply was that? I have to say I had to check the home page to make sure this was a DIY forum. It's the second time in just two threads that I receive those rude and patronising answers. I'd like to answer in kind but I...

    Split heat pump air conditioner

Thanks Roger, I haven't fitted the copper hoses yet. I am looking into a vacuum pump and gauge manifold to make the vacuum and test the flare connections. However I measured the service port and it's 1/2". All the equipment I find online is 1/4" and it seems that R410a gas should use either 1/4"...

    Split heat pump air conditioner

If there is there an HVAC expert on these forums, I have a question. The low pressure valve on my unit is 1/2" and for the life of me I cannot find a gauge manifold for sale with a 1/2" connector at the end of the hoses - only 1/4". What am I missing?

I didn't think of an automotive guy. Do you think they'll have tools that can be carried around? I've always seen big machines on wheels. Thanks for your advice. I'll make sure I am not doing anything unlawful :)

    Split heat pump air conditioner

Hi there, I have purchased a second hand 24000btu AC unit to heat my garage (DIY room). I have asked a quotation to have it commissioned (it's already in place) and the price I was asked is - IMHO - too high to spend on a £50 unit. I am happy to do that myself, I found online a very cheap...

    Drywall gap advice

Good point, a fire would escape through the void and the gap and reach the roof. Thanks Phatboy
