How best to support this joist

Hi all, I've just removed a false chimney breast with a view to rebuilding as a new media wall. There was obviously originally a full breeze block fireplace that has been chipped back to allow for an in wall gas fire in the old false breast I just removed. At one point of the old breeze block...

Texecom config query - entry/exit and guard access

Thanks all for your comments and wealth of knowledge shared. Very much appreciated. Installer didn't explain why they'd set the hall up as entry/exit in any convincing way, just something about setting the primary zone type to cover full/part arm rather than using the zone attributes to alter...

Texecom config query - entry/exit and guard access

I've got the engineer code. They had a lot of trouble getting the smart com working (four visits) so I got it off them so I could fiddle. I think the smart com issues were as a result of initially trying to join it to a subnet for which the gateway was 192.168.2.1 (same IP as you initially use...

Texecom config query - entry/exit and guard access

Installer is ssaib and texecom authorised. It's a bell only system. They replaced an old texecom system, but added the front door contact. Do I need to set entry/exit attribute on the hall PIR to make it entry/exit on part? Your msg implies it might be auto if guard access on full? Would the...

Texecom config query - entry/exit and guard access

Thanks Pete, Arm mode timed? Reassuring, but why do you favour that config over the alternative I suggested? Am I suggesting nonsense?

Texecom config query - entry/exit and guard access

I've just had a new Premier Elite professionally installed and I've a query about how they've set it up. They insist it's right, but I'd like a second opinion. The hall has a PIR and the front door a contact sensor. The keypad is in the hall below the hall PIR. Arm mode is timed exit. Front...

Chimney leaking - dripping from DPC into loft?

Just to close this one out for anyone who comes across this thread in the future. Repointing and lapping the felt over the back gutter did not resolve the issue. After a long wait (9 months!) I finally got a long established and well regarded roofer to investigate. The issue was as originally...

What tool to remove this wall mount bath filler?

I've looked at fitting instructions for similar taps, but none of them marry up to this one. The spout doesn't unscrew and there's no grub screw securing it. It seems to me the only way the cover can be held in place is via the brass nut in the first picture. I think it's just a case of finding...

What tool to remove this wall mount bath filler?

Thanks, a couple of photos from the side attached. I suppose the shroud could come off as one piece, but if it does it isn't coming off easily and I don't want to apply too much force in case it doesn't and I damage it. There's no other fixings I can see other than the nut originally shown.

What tool to remove this wall mount bath filler?

The shroud doesn't appear to be removeable, looks to be all one piece?

What tool to remove this wall mount bath filler?

Hi all, Trying to remove this bath filler so I can provide additional support as it's twisting on the wall. Callipers say it's 27mm, but I can't find a box spanner/socket with thin enough walls to fit without fowling the body. Is there a tool I'm not aware of?

Chimney leaking - dripping from DPC into loft?

Useful observations, thanks. There's no water running down the back of the felt that I can see. Re. the 3 pieces of leadwork, do you mean as below - orange, green and blue three sections? Or do you mean the lip at the ridge side of the back gutter is a separate section?

Chimney leaking - dripping from DPC into loft?

Yep, he's been and is very apologetic. He'll do both the pointing and lap the felt into the gutter for the pointing only price as an apology. Got very lucky, ceiling plasterboard is foil backed so the rain ran to the bedroom downlight and dripped on my wife which woke her up. If not for those...

Chimney leaking - dripping from DPC into loft?

Woke up last night to water dripping through the bedroom downlights at 1am :( I think I've managed to save the ceiling... caught about 12 litres of rain in about 6 hours. Assumed last roofer that had a look must've dislodged something for it to get so much worse, but worse than that, he just...
