thanks for this. Thanks everyone else too! Have managed to get my Bemis avocado seat to fit using several long cable ties. Was about to take it to the local charity shop! The holes in the seat overlap with those on the toilet by around 50 mm...too small a gap for a bolt but big enough for some...

Hi again the new toilet (with the plastic part descibed above) will not fit. This has been established by both a plumber and the manutacturers. It's hinge is adjustable but just not enough to fit my 19cm hole. What I need now is to find out if toilet seats exist which have hinges that fit 20cm...
