    Dormer insulation

Hi. I'm about to sort/replace old dormers (50s bungalow) in preperation for a new roof. Currenly uninsulated damp (likely rotten) horrible things. At present it's diffiuclt to work out exactly what I'll be working with but my assumption is the following. Walls rising from roof joist...

    LED lights, transformers and dimmers

Hi all, looking for some advice. The previous owners of the house converted half of the garage to a sun room, it was a damp and horrible hell with plaster boards stuck to the single brick walls, crap patio door etc. I need a place to work while doing the rest of the house so I've made an...

    Render over damaged wall

Most of the water runs away towards the drain, although some does pool by the garage before spilling through the gap and in to the neighbours. Thanks for the replies, I may just leave it until I do the drive.

    Render over damaged wall

I will be doing the drive at some point, but not for a while. I have no idea about waterprrofing, but I assume nothing has been done since none of the jobs I've come across here have been done very well. I can get at the wall from the other side, would there be any benefit on getting some of...

    Render over damaged wall

Looking for some advice please. I'm not planning on doing this myself but know nothing about render so want to know what I'm asking for. There is a retaining wall between my house and the neighbours, the wall was installed before we moved in and no allouance for drainage was added. The plan is...

Double socket - One 3 pin and one fused spur

Thanks for the info. I've gone with dealing the double to a single and simple plaster job. The socket is in a stupid place so a switch to an outside light is a better use.

Double socket - One 3 pin and one fused spur

Bugger. The existing box is only 25mm. Just plastered and painted so would rather not have to knock it to bits. Do a plug with spur didn't exist?

Double socket - One 3 pin and one fused spur

Cheers. Never used those Euro modules but I'll take a look. May end up with a double to 2 singles though.

Double socket - One 3 pin and one fused spur

Hi. Did I imagine this existing? I want to swap a double socket for a single socket with a fused spur (like a cooker supply but not as deep) so I can use the switch to turn on a few outside lights. Does such a thing exist? I'm sure I spotted one somewhere, once.

    Kitchen wiring and back boxes

Excellent, thanks for all the replies people, really fast response so I'll be using this forum more I think. I was going to get the electrician to run the cables etc, then I'll plaster them in. The reason for wanting to run cables behind the cooker unit is that there will be a gaping hole in...

    Kitchen wiring and back boxes

Hi. I'm in the process of installing a new kitchen and want to save some money by chasing walls etc and setting in back boxes for new ring main before I do the plastering. 3 questions if I may. 1 - The back box for the cooker supply. I understand the norm is to use a 47mm deep box but I'm...
