Hi All,
Just wondering if anyone has any experience with the door hinges in these images and might know how to adjust the height?
We had a new carpet laid and now it drags - previously the door area was a separate piece of carpet done in something resembling Wookie Pubes and much lower pile...
yeah air bricks visible to exterior of the house on the chimney side seem to be below floor level.
Posted some more images here as I've now raked out to hard floor level in a few places with the claw of a hammer - approx 2" and then I get a concussive shock when I whack it.
That bit seems to...
yeah its an internal wall. Their hall way is on the other side of our wall.
The chimney breasts are on the opposite side of the house. Damp survey showed that entries side of the house to be dry.
I don't actually know if the original floor was concrete.
The supply pipe comes out of the ground...
I thought we had rising damp as the skirting boards were rotten and the carpet felt damp with salt tides on the wall paper.
The surveyor said the wall was wet but the floor was comparatively dry and he thought it might be penetrating - confident it wasn't rising. It's a shared wall and the...
Hi,
After a recent damp survey that found dry rot along a single living/dining room wall, I have taken of the plaster/mortar on the walls and removed the carpet to putdown a masonry treatment. The plan was then to paint in a liquid DPM.
I did a quick brush followed by a hoover which is when it...
Yeah I figured I'd need a registered spark. I'm happy to do the work and get it signed off properly.
It's going to be about 3 Meters from the house so was guessing I need to bury the last part and use armoured cable all the way. I just don't really know anything about adding a circuit to the...
I've always felt that but I'm just going on the advice of many tortoise keepers here in the UK. I've had them a few years and they've not been hibernated before. The are quite a hardy species but I don't want them to have to put up with typical Britain if I can offer paradise.
Cheers ericmark! I thought they would be a bit pricier but that's not a bad price at all.
It's gonna be a custom build. 3M x 2M x 0.7M raised bed with a half greenhouse/half brick house, various plants, water feature, partially turfed. Meshed lid to cover the whole thing.
Hi All,
I just wondered if anyone could give some advice on running power from my consumer unit to an external Tortoise enclosure? I am a bit of a noob with electrics.
I have a Wylex NHRS6604 unit that is a 12 way split load. Configuration is 6 +6.

so no laws to say he can't just start trading, but what about his cusomers, do they need o have his work checked out by corgi registered people to check conformity or are they safe?
the mods binned it out of general discussion...
I don't think this guys trying to take over england - we live in Crewe where the only plumbers you can actually get are from british gas at £150 "to have a look" - so we're over run with gynecologists...
Hope I'm in the right foum here guys...
My friend has moved to the uk this year and is a fully qualified plumber and decorator in his own country wih 20 years experience. Does he need uk qualifications to set up a business or will the foreign counterparts be ok?
Hmm - good points from both you guys...
My chimney pot is not capped, my house is a 101 year old mid terrace at the top of a hill - but cheshire is fairly flat so i'm probably not that high up... The loft has been converted and shows no signs of damp. The roof is newish and sound - probably...
Hey thanks for the advice dude - what does an ss vent look like - hang on, does ss vent=stainless steel vent? in which case, is it just a plate with slotted holes in that screws on? and i assume you just cut holes in the plaster board? and place said vent over them...
Cheers again :-)
