    loose roof tiles - help

Just a thank you to all those that have sent me advise whether deemed good or bad by other parties. I realise that there is an issue that I need to get to the bottom of through using other roofing companies. Once people start to get personnel it is not worth replying. I realise now that I am...

    loose roof tiles - help

Joe 90 - I have gone down the Insurance route to see if there is any claim from this. The assessor was out on Thursday but could not come up with any conclusion and has had to refer the roof to there surveyor who will come as soon as possible. Guess what the roofer who you refer to as a "con...

    loose roof tiles - help

Joe 90 - from first posting "The roofer has informed me that a lot of the slates are loose and have worked free from the battens and in his experience it would be better to remove all the slates both back and front from the roof and start again with a better slate and thicker/wider batten." I...

    loose roof tiles - help

Re - so you`ve got undersized battens and cheap slates that are - @ the moment , just rattling on their nails - get up there with tubes of Gripfill and glue them back down - it`s all got to come off someday and be renewed - this " bodge" will give you a decade with no rattles - and time to save...

    loose roof tiles - help

Gents, regarding slate hooks is there a requirement to remove the slates and then reposition with the hooks or do the hooks just slip over/under the slate. Are they also time consuming to fit as there may be quite a few to use. Also we are in a conservation area.

    loose roof tiles - help

Thanks for al the advice folks. I know nothing about roofing just your average Joe Public. What I cant get my head round is - Why do we pay money for surveys when things are overlooked until there is an issue and it is put down to high winds by the surveying company. The insurance company may...

    loose roof tiles - help

The house that we have bought was built privately and looks in good condition. The issue appears to be the tiles coming off the lats with the high winds. Looking from the ground up everything appears to be lined up and straight. I would be looking at reusing the same tiles rather than replacing...

    loose roof tiles - help

The price quoted was for front and back. Would it be wise to reclaim and fit the tiles as they are to me not too old. Thinking back the roofer may have commented that the battens used may not have been wide / deep enough The roofer is on about just binning the tiles in a skip with no...

    loose roof tiles - help

We have just had high winds over the last couple of weeks and I noticed a loose tile on the front roof. I asked about at work and have come up with a recommended roofer to replace and have a look at the roof while he was up. I received a message to contact the roofer yesterday regarding the...
