Quick one.. When laying the underlay to the edge of the skirting can it be firm to the edge or does it have to have a 10mm gap for inclusion in expansion? I know the underlay wont expand or contract like the laminate will but just wanted to check if i could fit underlay firm to the edge...

    Laminate - the edgy bits

Matty, you pin offcut laminate to the skirting then leave a gap then put the laminate down? seems an awful lot of offcut to use? how thick is the offcut you use? Also wouldulike, quick one, if the edging is pinned/glued to the floor and the laminate expands, wouldnt that break the edging...

    Laminate - the edgy bits

Right 10mm cool, and you attach the edging to the floor and not the wall/existing skirting? right... Whats the point in the cork expansion strips then are they just a cheap version of spacers? to allow for your 10mm away from the wall?

    Decking

Thankyou. I wasn't going to run posts, I was just going to put the joists directly onto the weed controller. As my ground is very clay-e im guessing there will be a substantial sink in it when the weight of all the wood goes on it therefor making it stable. Also my garden has a slight...

    Decking

Do you have to have a ledger? Im starting my decking tomorrow, and have noticed on a lot of posts, people are using a ledger? I guess it attatches the deck to the house and aides stability but is it a neccessity? Cheers Arthur
