Insulating Oriel window with condensation problem

Thanks. Turns out the exterior paintwork is allowing water to soak through.. that's why the wood is so cold to the touch inside.

Insulating Oriel window with condensation problem

Hi Blup, Many thanks - I suppose my main question was trying to understand why these areas of wood might be so cold as to cause the condensation in the first place. No other room in our house forms condensation on the wooden areas of the windows. The wood is sometimes colder than the glass!

Insulating Oriel window with condensation problem

Hello, Grateful for any help with this. We have this old Oriel window in an 1830s property which has been retrofitted with Iroko double glazed units. It has a triangle shaped block of Kingspan built into the underside and the inside of the projecting platform has also been insulated as it was...

    Paint peeling :-(

Um, I washed the bare plaster several days beforehand with sugarsoap and then plain water. The base coat advises watering down for a first coat and states 1:4 ratio + allow 6-9 hours drying time. The Diamond Matt advises the same although a 4-6 hour drying time. ...

Hi, I recently wired some underfloor heating via a fused spur to a single socket in my kitchen. However, looking at this forum, I'm confused as to whether I should have done so. The single socket had the following running to it: 2 x Live (Black) with 3 rigid copper strands in each; 2 x...

    Water permanently flowing through pipes

Thanks for responding.. I've liaised with the residents in our building and found nothing.. it's semi-detached (4 flats on the right hand side, 4 on the left with an entrance on each side) Are you saying that there could be a joint water tank for all 8 flats which is in the roof of the...

    Water permanently flowing through pipes

Ok.. here's what we're trying to figure out: I live in the basement of a Victorian conversion. There are 4 flats and the main supply pipe enters the building through my flat. There is water permanently flowing through this pipe. 3pm, 3am, always. This is very annoying. There also appears...
