I think the farmer took out the best compacted bits when he dug down the 250mm.
So what I have left is large lumps with gaps between them (some filled with decaying vegetation).
I could just leave it, but its really uneven/difficult to walk on due to the big lumps- which are lose enough to...
After years of trying, have managed to buy a strip of badly neglected land bedside the house that was full of brambles.
The strip used to be a farm track, measures 4m by 60m (yep pretty long)
I have cut down all the brambles, and discovered that the farmer must have in the past dug down...
Thanks Foxhole.
To complicate matters - there are 2 windows either side of the potential 'extraction area'. i.e. I only have 600mm of wall space directly behind the hob, with no wall units either side = can't use a bridging unit.
Hoping for some inspiration.
Renovating an old kitchen. The existing cooker extraction system is a wall mounted Xpelair that is 25yrs old....it does the job well but looks ugly.
Problem is that we have a very low sloping ceiling to contend with (see diagram).

But when she turns on any of the hot taps, the boiler doesn't fire up.
I have tried turning the switch on the boiler to hot water only, and the same...
I called the shop that I bought the brushes from and asked advice.
Shop advised to remove motor again, take motor apart (housing etc), and locate a 'fuse' inside the housing. Hit the 'fuse' hard with a bolt & hammer. It is not actually a fuse, more like a overheat switch which is meant to...
Update.
Have removed the motor and brushes from the machine - brushes very worn. Bought new replacement brushes & refitted.
Can now get machine to fill, and the drain...............but not spin.
What should I try next?
Three days ago the washing machine failed to drain...........ah I thought, check pump filter = stuck/jammed.............tipped machine onto side and uncliped black hoses, found Lord Lucan and loads of other bodies inside. Righted machine, ran quick drain test, pump ran OK but seemed...
Thanks all.
I don't know why none of the installers I contacted suggested getting a bespoke cill made (?) nor........more importantly did I!
I have an appointment with Norwich Sheet metal later this week.
I will call Matt tomorrow also.
Thanks again, I'll keep you posted.
