Re-installed shower enclosure with uneven wall

Hi again, I went away for the weekend to the in-laws and talked over while I was there. My biggest concern was cutting the wedge shape. Wood was the easiest option but forgot i had an angle grinder, making the aluminium bracket a better option. So i've borrowed some cutting disks from the...

Re-installed shower enclosure with uneven wall

This was a total gut job as joists were not meeting the walls and a few were rotten, so new kitchen ceiling too. Back to bare walls, 3 are 3ft thick stone, the other internal is brick. You'd think that the builder would have used a spirit level when putting the plasterboard up, knowing he was...

Re-installed shower enclosure with uneven wall

Hi We had a builder in to install a new bathroom, as the job was too big for us. To cut a very long story short I have re-installed the shower tray and am now ready to fit the panels. We have a very old house and the walls are very sloping. Previously there was a gap between one wall and the...

    Repainting a plaster fireplace mantle

Hi people, I have a plaster fireplace surround/mantle installed by the people who lived in our house before we moved in. After using smooth-over to sort out the mess under the wallpaper on the chimney breast (great stuff by the way), the misses scraped a chunk off the mantle (trying to help...

How to mitre corners for ceiling coving?

I had to patch a piece of coving last year and got into the same state as you. luckily I did a few cuts on a piece I messed up and worked out what the problem was. There are 4 angles when cutting a corner. If you put a piece of coving into the mitre and cut from front left into the centre, you...

filled holes sanded flat, but walls textured with old paint!

Thanks for that. I thought there may be a decorators tip I could use to sort it out, but it looks like we going to have to wait until we repaint and give the whole surface a blast with the orbital sander. Thanks again Matt

filled holes sanded flat, but walls textured with old paint!

Hi people, We moved into our house which was painted white throughout, probably to hid the condition of the walls. Because there are a few years worth of paint on them they have textured slightly, so any freshly filled and sanded areas stand out. Can anyone suggest anything to get rid of...

Putting a kink bend in external stench/vent pipe near roof

I thought of that, but I didn't want to run the risk of it not solving the problem and have to go up there in the bad weather to fix it. I'd rather get it sorted once and for all, while the weather is good. I don't like heights that much and there's an extension below where I need to put the...

Putting a kink bend in external stench/vent pipe near roof

Its very similar, but there's hardly any lip, so only the first 2 joins would be necessary. I've just found some photos of the house so I've attached it below. As you can see the bracket is low enough to give the pipe enough length to vibrate in strong winds hitting the tiles.

Putting a kink bend in external stench/vent pipe near roof

Cheers for that, forgot to check Screwfix out. Do you know if the combination of a Top Offset Bend and a 135degree single bend would work as I notice that the top offset looks like it has larger connections on both ends so I wouldn't need the extra double coupler

Putting a kink bend in external stench/vent pipe near roof

Hi, We have a stench pipe running up the side of the house past the roof tiles. The house is an end of terrace so the roof slopes down to front and back. During the winter (our first in the house) the wind is banging the pipe against the tile edge. Other houses in the area have a kink in...
