I've just changed the bearings on my LG Intellowasher direct drive washing machine and the new bearing seal is squeaking against the shaft. Does anyone know if it wise to grease the part of the bearing seal that comes into contact with the shaft??? By the way, I've had to take it apart again...

    Stone resin shower tray

I'm about to fit a stone resin shower tray onto floor tiles. Is it crucial to lay a bedding of cement down for the tray to sit on? It say's if the floor is uneven then the tray will crack. This is what it recommends, but I'm not keen to do it. If I ensure the floor tiles are laid well with...

Speedfit fittings and chrome plated copper pipe

I've just discovered that you need to remove the chrome plating from the copper pipe before fitting the speed fit joint, is this correct?? If so, then how do you remove the chrome plating without damaging the pipe?? :x Hope someone can help. Cheers

Radiator thermostats - buy cheap or buy expensive

I'm about to buy 10 Pegler Terrier Ii Trv radiator thermostats from Screwfix.com. Can anyone recommend anything better or cheaper or are they all pretty much the same as far as quality goes. Would £4 thermostats from b&q suffice or is it, you get what you pay for? Thanks

The others however, are not on a gloss finish and are very difficult to remove without pulling half the...

Cable size for a 10.5kw shower

As I've got a family with 2 kids and do not want the house to burn down the safest option would be to re-cable with 10mm, wouldn't it? Or is this over cautious?? It seems that there is a definite conflict of information. I'd rather not re-cable as it is a hassle and I've got enough to do...

Cable size for a 10.5kw shower

I'm currently fitting a 10.5kw shower where a 7.2kw shower used to be. The problem is the cable is 6mm and not 10mm. The cable run is around 10 metres or less and is not embedded in plaster board or insulation. The cable runs from the fuse box (obviously), under floor boards, through the waste...
