Thanks for your reply, Breezer. Decided to call out an alarm firm who are now going to fit a new panel & bell - seems our system didn't conform to current legislation - so have gone for a complete update. Thanks for your help.

Changed battery OK. All seemed to be well but battery appears to have discharged, panel has no power and yet the outside sounder has started and I cannot turn it off! Any offers? Thanks.
