We have a 20 year old Optima Alarm system installed and at various times the battery has been changed by alarm companies.
I would now like to change the battery myself but am unsure of the correct procedure.
Could you please give a step by step method starting with whether the power should be off and whether the alarm will sound when I remove the cover? If so what do I press?
Any guidance would be appreciated.
Many thanks.

I'll try to get a battery tomorrow, Maplins I believe.

yes, but take the one you have with you.

other suppliers are available.

yours is probably 12v 2.8 Ah or 12v 3 Ah (both same size)

Changed battery OK.
All seemed to be well but battery appears to have discharged, panel has no power and yet the outside sounder has started and I cannot turn it off!
Any offers?
Thanks.

Thanks for your reply, Breezer.
Decided to call out an alarm firm who are now going to fit a new panel & bell - seems our system didn't conform to current legislation - so have gone for a complete update.
Thanks for your help.
