Hey all, I went there and as far as I could see the hole was filled with water. Though what concerned me most was the joists were damp and giving off high damp readings. It's possible rising damp from the walls is traveling into the wooden joists. Not sure how many years it's been going on...
Yeah thats a good point. I will closely inspect it as well as the wood shelves. Some sort of water discolouration on the joists above too? Is that due to moisture?
Yeah I think you're right. Just read up about them. Are they something that is permanently installed? Is it not possible to make it habitable room if it has a big pump down there?
Hi all,
Can anyone identify what this large hole/opening could be? I figured it could possibly be water related as to why I posted in this forum. Is it something that could hinder converting this into a habitable room?
Hi all,
Just got a new towel rail radiator. It's one that just joins to the central heating, so not electric. I notice when I shake it there sounds like bits inside it rattling. Is there something inside these radiators to mix with the water? or they supposed to be empty?
Cheers. I just realised the replacement is too long by about 10cm :D so I may have to give this a skip and look for another one. Appreciate all the help on this.
Yes second hand, but not used. I just saw the instructions and the hole is indeed for a vent screw. I would need to check if it is included. Though if not can these be bought separately?
So I found out it is a 'Dual Energy' towel warmer. Does this mean it can run off the central heating, though...
Thanks guys, I've not bought it yet, its listed on ebay. It's the only rail that matches my old one, though yeah I can't seem to find one like it online anywhere. I have asked them if they can take pics of the instructions. I still think it could possibly be electric as I've seen ones with holes...
Hi all,
I'm buying a heated towel rail to replace the one in my bathroom. The one in my bathroom runs off the central heating which is two copper pipes underneath. It has two capped nuts at the top end of each frame, one has a bleed valve. So similar to this one in the image.
I noticed the...
Great, thanks for the info guys. My partners dad is a retired electrician so I can relay the info to him and he can check it. The smell doesn't smell like gas so I will assume it is electrics. gass112 haha yeah I never thought of it that way ;)
@Madrab Yes it is registering usage. My current supplier is EON. Would they be responsible for the gas meter if it needed checking up? Also the gas meter is 44 years old, so not sure if that should be changed anyway. Though back then it says it is owned by British Gas, though not sure if it is...
Hi all,
I have a really old gas meter, from around 1979 (as it says on the front) it is situated in my cupboard with electricity meter. I couldn't get it changed for a smart meter because the way it is fitted.
Anyway, the past week there has been a funny smell in the cupboard, like a fishy...
