Thanks all. Decided to patch up the window as mentioned. In terms of supporting the rafter, I got some wet rot treatment for the other, and put in another beam parallel to it to support it. Made it easier than taking off tiles and it being a roof job

Thanks @Why Not Indeed. I had someone who has come in, but they said that it seemed solid (I wasn't convinced by how minimal his inspection was though)

Hi all, I recently purchased a home and found water coming through the ceiling in the upstairs bedroom. Turns out that the loft skylight seals perished and water had been seeping through, onto the joist, going down it and eventually to the ceiling on the floor below. The window will be replaced...
