Does anyone know if there might have been a major change in the Vaillant product line in the 90s? So, I looked up the right replacement time switch for the Turbomax 242; I asked here for advice; this morning I shut it down, opened it up, and found that - there is no clip holding the timer...

OK, so the installation instructions for the 110 timeswitch are clear enough. Once done, "recommission the boiler according to the commissioning instructions". We don't have the original commissioning docs, but I've just found a manual for a current Tmax on the Web and the commissioning...

Thanks a lot. So essentially I just need to remove the screw that holds the black plastic front panel in place, lower it on its hinges, pull out the dead timer and substitute the new one? Also, where are the connections for the external controls? (Thinking thermostat here.)

Is the digital one compatible with this boiler?

It's mounted directly on the front panel of the boiler. I think it's the type that plugs in; the boiler just doesn't look anything like the ones I can see on the market.

Got a boiler that's either one of these. Belongs to the Shah of Landlordistan. Fires up OK, HW OK, but CH not working intermittently. This is clearly because the ancient mechanical (electromechanical? we hope) timer doesn't work - it's not ticking. Quick google shows various things under a...
