In the blue corner we have, Mr Plaster. He looks a bit wet but is solidly constructed and we've no doubt at all once all is said and done he will be a hard customer.

In the red corner we have, Mr Dust! He looks light and flimsy but he is all over the place, even where you didn't expect him. There's no real strength to him but with a reach like that he doesn't need it.

Err... I've got a room which I just plastered the ceiling of this morning and then realized I had missed out a chase (which I make with an angle grinder, not having any better tool). This makes vast amounts of dust. How long do I need to leave the plaster for (minimum) before the dust won't pollute it?

If your plaster was only put on today, any "vast amount" of dust in the air/room will stick to it. It will brush off when it dries out, but I'd leave it a day or two for the ceiling, to more or less dry out,, or get the hammer and bolster out.

Roughcaster.

Thank you :D

or get the hammer and bolster out.

The comb chisel (with a club or baby sledge hammer) seems to work for me better than a bolster. Problem with this wall is the mortar is fragile...
